  EQUINE ASSISTED GROWTH AND LEARNING

AFTER SCHOOL HOURS PROGRAM

Equine Assisted Growth and Learning Program (EAGL) incorporate horses in a setting for psychotherapy, personal growth and learning. It is a collaboration between trained and certified professionals  and our amazing horses working with  youth to achieve specific goals.  Equine-assisted therapy is designed to improve the physical, social, emotional, and/or cognitive functioning of youth participants, as well as provide educational and motivational effectiveness.  EAGL a co-ed program for youth ages 7 years to 18 years of age and is designed to enhance and stimulate academic achievements, leadership development and life skills. The curriculum includes Horsemanship skills, Equine and Veterinary Science, Leadership Training, Health and Nutrition, Life Skills Training (assisted by our clinical staff) and various Agricultural Sciences. The program operates from September to June.

• Equine And Veterinary Science Courses for

• Home-Schooled Children
  We offer parents a fantastic Equine and Veterinary Science curriculum.  Our Veterinary Science Instructor designs a inquiry based hands-on animal science activities with outcome based results that keep youth excited and curious.  The course can be designed to meet the needs of the scheduled classes.  The course also included animal  psychology, physiology, nutrition and first aid. Workbook, handbooks and lab. Students are assigned a horse and/or one of our other animals for study, research and hands-on work. Students received four tests and one final exam. Upon successful completion students receive a certificate of completion in Animal Husbandry. Contact our office for further information.

  Summer Equestrian Youth Camp

• The Summer Youth Equestrian Camp is a licensed day camp offering 8 weeks - full-days offering Western and English Hunt Seat training, as well as agricultural, Equine husbandry, Veterinary Sciences and loads of fun!.  Camp begins July 5 and continues to August 20, 2010.  We provide lunch, mounted lessons, veterinary science, gardening, trail riding and much, much more.  See flyer above for more details or call our office

• Day at the Stable and Equestrian Scouting Clinic

•  

• The one-day event for groups of youths offer mini-clinics addressing all aspects of the horse, grooming, tacking and riding. Scouts can earn their Equine Badges through a scheduled clinics.  Badge classes fill up quick. Scout Leaders - call early

• Rising Star 4-H Club 

• We are proud to announce Hartford's first 4-H Equine Club, now operating at our Equestrian Center. For the first time ever Hartford's youth will experience the joy and accomplishment of breeding, working and showing their livestock at county fairs and events across the region. The 4-H Club meet every Saturday. Membership is open to youth age 6 years old  and up.

• Ebony Horsewomen operates a terrific and fun filled Saturday experience of ri ding horses, and hanging out with the assortment of baby animals.  The day is filled with activities, new like "find the eggs"  Our chickens are laying eggs like crazy.  All you have to do is "find the eggs"  Fred and Elvis, the baby goats are running all over the place - and rabbits - we're up to our ears in rabbits; the ferret is sleeping and the lizards are hiding.

Therapeutic Mentoring Program

Horses, the beauty of nature ,and trained, dedicated professionals and clinical staff provide an excellent opportunity to mentor those youngsters who need something more. Horse Therapy develops non-verbal communication, assertiveness, creative thinking and problem-solving, leadership, work, taking responsibility, teamwork and relationships, confidence, and attitude. All of these ingredients help youth to grow and obtain social skills . This program operates seven days per week.  Mentors are available on off hours for any emergency.  All of our therapeutic programs are conducted with our Licensed Clinical Social Worker and Horse Specialist.

Alternative Community Service Hours (ACH)

• ACH provide services to Hartford’s school district for elementary and middle school students who have been suspended or expelled from school. Although the decision to remove a child from school is difficult, in some cases it is necessary. The ACH program provides educational supports and social skill training while those students are away from school making the transition back to school smooth. This project operates Monday through Friday and open to all school districts.  A

Leave the entire ordeal to us.  We will provide you with the birthday decorated hall, a petting zoo, Hay ride for all your guest through our beautiful scenic park, many other activities, ride horses and play in our Cultural Villages.
